Celebrating Brotherhood and Football at the Cornerstone Lodge
Football United in a Euros themed evening combining Essex teams of Cornerstone Lodge and the Cornerstone Club
At the Chingford Masonic Centre, on the 29th of June, the Essex Cornerstone Lodge No. 9968, combined with the Essex Cornerstone Club and held a remarkable and memorable meeting. This stunning venue was the perfect backdrop for an evening that beautifully combined the spirit of Freemasonry with the excitement of the Euros football competition.
The evening was themed around football, with Jack Saunders and his wardens exchanging the traditional gavels with whistles, setting a playful tone for the meeting. The highlight of the lodge proceedings was a presentation by Chris Lee, who shared his insights and experiences from his career as a professional referee. His interactive presentation was both informative and entertaining, providing a unique glimpse into the world of professional refereeing.
The festive board that followed was a celebration of England's football team's success in the Euros, with St. George’s banners and flags decorating the room. The atmosphere was vibrant and filled with camaraderie as attendees participated in wonderful food and a series of entertaining games.
One of the standout activities was the interactive group penalty shootout. Participants had to choose to stand either left or right, and if the goalkeeper chose their direction, they were out. Another engaging game was 'Hide Beckham's Red Card,' where red cards were distributed, and the card with Beckham's name on it had to be secretly passed around. The person left with Beckham's card at the end of the night had to perform a forfeit. In a delightful turn of events, Austin Evesden was the one to end up with the card and had to sing 'Three Lions' to everyone. His surprisingly talented performance was met with enthusiastic participation and applause from the crowd, highlighting the fun and unity of the evening.
The Cornerstone Lodge Euros-themed meeting was a resounding success and a night to remember, combining the passion for football with the enduring values of Freemasonry. It was an evening filled with laughter, learning, and the spirit of brotherhood, showcasing also the vibrant community of the Cornerstone Club.
